FAQ

Why use PNL Playbook?

PNL Playbook is for active traders who want the journal to do more than store notes. It helps connect trades, rules, account context, and review into one repeatable improvement loop.

The reason to use it

Most trading journals ask what happened. PNL Playbook is designed to ask what should change.

  • Stop preventable leaks. Review whether trades followed your setup, risk, timing, news, sizing, and account rules.
  • Find repeatable missed edge and outliers. Compare how far trades moved against you and in your favor, how exits behaved, and which unusual trades skewed the results so you can see whether similar setups keep offering more than you capture.
  • Keep prop rules visible. Track eval, sim-funded, and funded constraints without separating rules from trade review.
  • Separate account P&L from business reality. Review fees, payouts, drawdown, and business costs without pretending gross P&L is the whole story.

Who is PNL Playbook for?

Futures, prop, equities, and options traders who want a structured review workflow. Prop traders get rule and drawdown context, but non-prop traders are not forced into prop-only language.

Do I need broker data to start?

No. You can log a trade manually first, or import a CSV from supported brokers when you already have history ready.

What makes it different from a spreadsheet?

It keeps trades, setup notes, risk rules, account scope, P&L review, and feedback in one workflow, so review is connected to decisions instead of scattered across tabs.

Will it tell me every exit was wrong?

No. The standard is repeatable evidence, not hindsight. The question is whether similar trades show that a management rule leaves money on the table without adding unacceptable drawdown or rule risk.

What is Leak Review?

Leak Review turns rule breaks, skipped checklist steps, overtrading, missing setup tags, and risk-limit issues into reviewable patterns so you can see what actually cost money.

What is PropForge?

PropForge keeps prop firm rules, fees, payouts, drawdown, and balance tracking visible for eval, sim-funded, and funded accounts.
